Eririn Trivia

The following are a few interesting things about Eri. Some are little things found around the internet or things that do not fit in with the rest of the menu. Others are from the people's observations.

Body

Eri says her charm point is her small ears.
Eri had said she doesn't like it when people touch her collarbone but it turned out she had mistaken collarbone for "sternum" (chest bone). So it is her sternum she doesn't like touched. [Hello Morning, 2003]
Eri can bend her finger at the 2nd joint without bending the top joint. [Hey x3 - July 21, 2003]
Eri is able to keep her eyes open for a long time. On the show Sore Yuke! Gorokkies, she was able to keep them open for 1:13 minutes, beating Miki by one second.

Family & Friends

Eri's best friend in Morning Musume is Sayumi.

During a 2008 concert MC, each member was asked what they wanted to do in the future and Eri said she wants to open a cafe with her mother.

Fashion

Eri explains that her outfit on the "Egao YES! Nude" single cover is that of a college student and not of a mother (or old lady) as most people assumed it to be. [Oha-Star 2007-02-15]
Eri likes the Kogal style. Although recently she says it was just a phase.
The dresses Eri wears on the Hello Pro Hour (HPH) segments are known as "Lolita" style, a type of fashion in Japan in which girls dress up in fluffy dresses making them look doll-like. It has a bit of Victorian and Gothic styles as well. Most of Eri's dresses came from a well-known Lolita clothing store called BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT. These dresses, although cute and pretty, are very expensive ranging from USD$100-450! This site shows all the dresses Eri wore as Elizabeth Kyamei (as well as the dresses Konno Asami wore for Ojamarushe for HPN).

Food

According to Risa, if members of MM were ingredients of curry Eri would be the fukujinzuke (vegetables pickled in soy sauce, usually eaten with curry). Eri agrees with her and recalls a story about when she was in kindergarten, during lunchtime she ate enough fukujinzuke to feed 4 people until there was none left. Eri has a taste for strange foods including:
- Aojiru: a greenish health drink. Eri says she's been a healthy mode lately. [Kindai interview circa "Aruiteru" single] (this is a change since she used to hate that stuff before "click")

- Nattou mixed with mayonaise for breakfast.
Eri has mistaken a papaya for a mango when making mango pudding. [Hello Morning, Feb. 2, 2004]

Guys

A tabloid article in Feb 2008 revealed information about Eri told by her "supposed" ex-boyfriend. The article included info about how they met and what they did together, why Eri never sings MM songs at karaoke bars, Eri inviting him to her concerts, and even Eri denying about having a boyfriend. There were even supposed photos of them together, though pixelated. There have been no confirmation that any of it was true and has since been dismissed.

Before Eri joined the group she said she was a fan of KATTUN's Akanashi Jin. [Bubka magazine article]
Baseball player Hideki Sunaga (who's 3 years older than her) of the Nippon Ham Fighters live in the same neighborhood. Here's the direct quote from the site:

...a member of the monstrously popular all girl teen group Morning Musume, Eri Kamei, lives in the same neighborhood as Fighters rookie pitcher Hideki Sunaga and they know each other from elementary school. Habits and Personality

Eri's a strange girl (which you all should know already)
Eri's very forgetful. Even Sayumi has to remind her about not forgetting things.
Eri's very messy.
- During 6th gen's Neoki Dokkiri (surprise wake up) segment, Eri was caught with her hotel room all messy. [Hello Morning May 22, 2005]
- When asked whose room is the dirtiest, almost all agree that it's Eri because they had some bad experiences with Eri's room from the Hawaii and Hong Kong trips. Makoto even heard from Eri herself that on the way home from Hong Kong, Eri just stuffed all her things into her suitcase. When she got home, she just left the trunk standing there unopened for a few months and didn't even sort through the stuff inside and clean it out. - On the same radio show, Risa always mentions from her observations, Sayumi is actually more mature than Eri.
The guy who does the voice of Akachin on Haromoni@ described Eri as hard to get along with (with him probably) and that Eri has grown tired of Akachin (sensing a rivalry). When it comes to being funny, he said Sayumi and Eri would make a great comedic duo, but Sayu is one step ahead of Eri.

Hobbies

Reading is listed as one of Eri's hobbies though she seldom does it.

It was later found out to be a lie and Eri explains that she's envious of people who read books because they look more "intellectual". She gets called "stupid" often. (Youngtown radio show)

"Orange Koucha" is one of Eri's fav comic borrowed from Kaori. Aichan and Eri both like "Good Morning Call".

Names

Meaning of Eri's name: "Kame" [亀] - turtle, "i" [井] - well, "E" [絵] - picture, "ri" [里] - village
Reina, Sayumi, and Rika call her "Eririn". Risa calls her "Kame". Konno and Takahashi call her "Kameko". Nacchi was the first to call her "Kamechan" and now it's commonly used among the members.
Reina teasingly gave Eri the never used nickname "Pattsun" which is a type of hairstyle in which the forelocks are cut straight, basically they're straight bangs/fringes. Eri decided that her nickname "Eririn" was kind of boring and decided to find another one. So on an official H!P questionaire, Eri added "Pattsun" in the nickname field though she wasn't really serious about using it. [Hello Morning, Apr 13, 2003]
The nickname "Erippe" was first heard in the skit portion of the Sakura Gumi Koen - Sakura Saku concert.

Fan names for Eri:
- Erien: (origin: I made it up XD) derived from Eri + alien. This term is associated with anything Eri does weird. It's also associated with people who are fans of Eri (ex. If you like Eri, you're an Erien). The association with the word alien came from the Sept. 26, 2003 FUN show in which Eri was picked from Sakura Gumi as the member most likely to communicate with aliens.
- Erorin: Used to describe when Eri does something sexy.
- Thunderthighs: A term used to describe Eri's unusually curvy and big thighs.
- The suffix "-rin": As in Eririn, means it belongs to Eri. Example: yukatarin = Eri in yukata, momorin = Eri's thigh.
- Turtle: from Eri's last name "Kame" which means turtle.
Eri says she was named after the song "Itoshi no Ellie" (1979) by the band Southern AllStars because her father was a fan of theirs. (06-06-17 Youngtown Radio Show)

Eri's recent nickname is Poke Poke Poo, given to her by Risa.

Phrases said by Eri

"Mogu mogu mogu mogu weee weee" - Eri's imitation of a doll she's had and still has when she was a baby (Sore Yuke! Gorokkies)
"Maido Arii!" - From Eri's Eric Kamezou salesman character on Hello Morning. It means "Thanks for your business."
"Hakumamipitopa" - Taken from a secret mic recording during one of MM's enviromental plays (2004). There was a little confrontation between her and Miki backstage and Eri blurted out this nonsense phrase to ignore her. The audio clip has been used in some fanmade songs.
"Hand in Cheese"/"Cheese in Hand"/"Cheese in Rifurijiita" - Probably the most well known phrases said by Eri. They were part of her attempt to tell her shocking story in English. [Hello Morning June 26, 2005]

Rumours

Sometime in 2004 there was a bogus rumour that Country Musume will add Eri and Rika into the group. Of course this is false because 1) Eri's from the city, not the country as all of the members from CM are, 2) Rika was a former loan member, and 3) the CM ni Fujimoto to Konno lineup was still newly formed at the time.
A rumor began in 2008 that Eri was going to graduate from Morning Musume from a concert MC, but it was a misinterpreted/misunderstanding of the MC which had to do with what each member wanted to do in the future. Eri's was to open a cafe with her mother.

Skills

Eri took 8 years of classical ballet.
Eri was on the track team of her school.
Eri is the worst artist in Morning Musume. However, on Hello Morning July 10, 2006, Eri was revealed to have been a genius artist in her past life.
Eri is bad at cooking but is trying to improve at it.
- On a radio show, when asked who is the worst cook out of the group, Takahashi said Eri was the worst cook because she heard it from Sayumi, but it was decided that both Eri and Sayu were the worst cook (Risa had picked Sayumi). [Rekomen Apr 18, 2006 with Takahashi, Ogawa, Niigaki, and Tanaka]

Symbols, Numbers, Letters...

Some letters you might've seen on Eri's clothing:
- Km, as in "Kamei"
- Later, when the "Iroppoi Jirettai" single came out, Eri's letters were changed to ER
23 is associated with Eri's birthday on the 23rd of December.
Since Rika's graduation concert, each member had a color that represents them. The color orange is Eri's color.
The color green is often related to Eri because turtles are green.

In the 2006 Winter Wonderful Hearts Concert, each member had an assigned number, Eri's was #11, which could mean:
- 1 = I, as in Er1 Kame1
- It could also mean: "K" is the "11th" letter of the alphabet.

Misc.

Eri attended Maki Goto's last concert in Oiyama in October 29, 2007.
Miki revealed that during a performance of a song (probably Aruiteru) when her and Eri touched backs, Miki would pull up her pants and give Eri a wedgie. [Youngtown radio show 2007-01-20]
Yuko Nakazawa wished Eri a Happy 18th Birthday at her concert on Christmas Eve 2006.
Eri's favorite flower is the Cosmos, because she had grown some a long time ago.
Among the current 10-nin group (post-Iroppoi Jirettai), Miki and Eri are the only ones who actually use their mobile phones for making phone-calls. The rest usually use theirs for mailing/messaging.
First CD Eri bought herself was a Namie Amuro album when Eri was 10 years old.
In Futarigoto, Eri jumped into Aichan's last episode because the staff noticed that Aichan was in the "don't know what else to do" situation. The immediately call up Eri and threw her in, which surprised both girls.
Eri's first TV appearance is in Kamiyacho Subway Station. (as seen on the 6th Gen audition) And that place has become Eri Wota's Holy Ground. There's a word "Subway Wota" among H!P fans dedicated to Eri Super Hardcore Fans.
